Uttar Pradesh has set up a group of women police officials called ‘sherni squad’ to remove crime in the state.
Two days after Yogi Adityanath became UP CM, UP set up an anti-romeo squad which was promised to ensure women safety in the state. But as we all know Uttar Pradesh still tops the list for worst women security, call it lawlessness in the state or failure of anti-romeo squad.
Over 4,300 cases of domestic violence have been reported to the National Commission for Women (NCW) since March 2020, with Uttar Pradesh and Delhi topping the list, according to Deccan Herald.
But believing in better efforts, UP has now set up ‘sherni squad’ to apprehend eve teasing and remove miscreants who bring threat to the women in the state.
Uttar Pradesh has decided to deply different members from the sherni squad in public places like movie halls, shopping malls, markets and everywhere where there are chances of crimes. It is said that the sqaud will keep an eye on every women in those places from morning 10 am to 8:30 pm.
The women officials are also given a three-day training program in the state.
The officials are also informed that the UP government will ensure their safety and security during the pandemic. They are given proper training about the Indian Penal Code(IPC) and are physically trained for the coming situations.
The recent Manisha Valmiki rapecase that raised thousands of questions on Uttar Pradesh government might be an eye opener for Uttar Pradesh. UP has taken this decision.
