Major Shankar Dhoundiyal’s Wife Joins Army, Dons Olive Green Uniform

Nitika Kaul, Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal-the Army officer’s widow, is commissioned to the Indian Army. Her husband has been assassinated in Pulwama, in February 2019.

On Saturday, Nitika Kaul left Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Officer’s Training Academy and is now commissioned as an Indian Army Lieutenant.

Her husband, Major Vibhuti Dhoundiyal, was involved in an operation on the trail of 40 PRPF soldiers killed in the Pinglang area of Pulwama Southern Kashmir.

During the attack, Major Dhoundiyal and three others were killed while forces managed to neutralise the JeM commander Kamran, one of the major plotters of the Pulwama attack on the CRPF convoy. For his courage, the Shaurya Chakra was decorated.

The newly commissioned officer was also honoured by Union Minister Smriti Irani on Twitter.

Nitika left her job and joined her late husband in honour of the army.
