Things You Should Know About Covid Vaccine Registration For 18+

Covid-19 Vaccine: The Government of India has announced phase 3 of the vaccination drive in the country amidst the steep spike in COVID-19 cases. All citizens aged above 18 will be eligible for Covid-19 vaccine registration India online starting from May 1. Presently, citizens above the age of 45 are allowed to take the vaccine. India’s is currently facing the second-highest ever recorded globally. Users need to get vaccine registration for the Covid vaccine registration online before heading to the hospitals and getting their first shot.

The Government tweeted that phase 3 of Covid-19 vaccination for 18+ adults will begin on May 1, and Covid-19 vaccine registration is set to begin from 4 pm on April 28, Wednesday, through CoWIN and the Aarogya Setu application. There is no application for the CoWIN site and will be done only via the Covid vaccine registration India website. The government is likely to open up registrations before May 1, to in-line the things in advance.

The official Aarogya Setu handle also states that the appointment for those between 18 and 44 years will be based on slots made available by the private vaccinations centers as well as the respective state government.

Also, the minimum age for each vaccination centre is displayed with the name of the vaccination centre. Appointment slots are available where the age displayed is 18+. However, it adds that more appointment slots will soon be offered. And if slots are not currently available, recipients must check after some time for any vacant slots.

How to register for the COVID-19 vaccine online?

Once the Covid-19 vaccine registration process for phase 3 begins, users can head to the CoWIN portal or Aarogya Setu app to register for the vaccine. The vaccination drive currently offers two covid-19 vaccines –
1.Covaxin that has been developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech
2.Covishield has been developed by the Oxford-AstraZeneca and is being manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII).

Those who are eligible for vaccination can register for covid vaccination themselves on two applications, namely CoWin portal and Aarogya Setu app, to book their slot for taking the vaccine.

People above the age of 18 can take the following steps to register for the vaccination:

Step 1: Visit the CoWin portal: CoWin.gov.in
Step 2: Register on the portal using your mobile number. You will receive an OTP. Enter it to complete the registration
Step 3: You will have to enter your details including the number of your photo identification
Step 4: After the registration, select the date, time, and venue for your covid-19 vaccination
Step 5: Visit the vaccination centre with your appointment slip and receive your first vaccine.

Once a person receives the first vaccine, the centre usually informs them about the time of their second shot. Vaccine beneficiaries can also reschedule the Appointment. As many as four people can be registered for vaccination through one mobile number.

When visiting the vaccination venue, people should carry one of the following documents for identification proof namely Voter ID, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Pension Document or Passport.

States like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi and Karnataka have decided to provide covid-19 vaccine free of cost to their citizens. There is already a vaccination drive for people above the age of 45 wherein beneficiaries are being immunised free of cost by the central government. The new announcement by several states is for people between the age of 18 to 44.

If you’re planning to register through the Aarogya Setu app, then these are the steps to be followed;

Step 1: Open the Aarogya Setu app and click on the CoWIN tab present on the home screen.
Step 2: Select ‘Vaccination Registration’ and then enter your phone number. You will receive an OTP and then you can proceed to verify yourself.
Step 3: On the ‘Register for Vaccination’ page, enter all details, including photo ID proof, name, gender, and year of birth. Click on ‘Register’.
Step 4: After you register, you will get the option to schedule an appointment. Click on Schedule next to the name of the person registered.
Step 5: Add your pin code and click on Search. The centres in the added pin code will appear.
Step 6: Select the date and time and click on ‘Confirm’.
