Union HRD Minister Interacts Through Webinar In New Delhi With Leaders From 45,000 Higher Education Institutions

Union HRD Minister called educational fraternity as Corona Warriors because in this extraordinary situation they are working round the clock to provide quality education to students.

The event was also graced by Chairman, UGC, Prof D P Singh, Prof Virender S Chauhan, Chairman, EC, NAAC. Prof S C Sharma, Director, NAAC spoke & coordinated the event.

Shri Pokhriyal welcomed NAAC ‘s initiatives in this pandemic and urged the country’s HEIs to treat the current situation as an opportunity for overcoming the limitations of the system. He urged the educators, pupils and families to switch to an online approach and take advantage of the situation so as not to interrupt the academic session of pupils and HEIs. He claimed that the online environment in India desperately needs development and enhancement. Educators will help to reach even the rural areas through online education.

The Minister of the Union has been focusing on a variety of issues and concerns posed by educators during the period of engaging with each other in connection with the academic calendar, online education, tests, tuition, student mental wellbeing, student problems, fellowships, the NEET, entry examinations etc. He dealt very closely with government initiatives in relation to Swayam Prabha, Deeksharambh, Paramarsh and several other special pandemic initiatives. He also called on all higher schools to participate in the NAAC accreditation process. He echoed the concern of India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the well-being of the high school community.

In order to address the issues of students with regard to the academic calendar and examinations due to Covid 19 the minister of the Union asked all the universities to constitute a special unit. It said that in UGC and NCERT a task force was established to solve the various student issues. The Department is committed to offering all students support during the time of crisis, assured Shri Nishank. The Union Minister underlined during the interaction the way the new meeting will be initiated, while also stating that the safety of students will be the priority.
