The Indians Institute of Technology Madras or IIT Madras has announced, on its 150th anniversary, a quinquennial webinar series of August 14, 2020, entitled Self-reliant India: Discussions and Dialogs on Human Inventions (SIDDHI).
IIT Madras is the office of Global Engagement, which conducts the webinar show. The case will be broadcast live on the Institute’s YouTube channel.
Themes such as socially applicable innovations, self-reliance education (Atmanirbhar Bharat, education, rural development will be the subject of the webinar series.
Prof. Raghunathan Rengaswamy, dean (GlobalEngagement), IIT-Madras said in a statement, “The objective of a SIDDHI Webinar series is to span the dissent of the science behind technology solutions to social problems among the general public and to launch a dialog to figure out socially significant problems to tackle.”
The first discussion of ‘Food Safety, Retrospection and Prospects’ will take place on 14 August. The webinar is open to anyone who wants to register, IIT Madras said, at https:/siddhi.iitm.ac.in.
“The food safety issue has been identified as a COVID 19 hazard and its impact on agriculture, economies, health and nutrition are strongly felt. The first Food Safety webinar will be a panel discussion in which experts in this area can speak about the most relevant national issues.
The Gandhian philosophy supports many global human development projects such as the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainable development is a core component of IIT Madras’ vision and mission, “he added.
SIDDHI is a collective effort of teachers, researchers, and students participating in government-funded projects under the SPARC, advanced joint research visiting (VAJRA), and socially important projects approved by the government of India, such as Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and New India internship, according to IIT Madras.
